Hello folks

I heard it's possible to disable the shutdown function when the power button of my computer is pressed. But I didn't manage to find where, in these forums, the solution is given, all I could read is that this is ACPI related.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me ?

Besides, would you know if disabling the REBOOT button is also possible ?

You see, i've got a nine months old son, proud of being able to walk, and his new hobby, every time he sees a computer, is to press the shutdown and reboot buttons, and then watch the screen for the funny effects
At least for my computer, I'd like to be able to configure the machine so that it won't shutdown or reboot every time I'm not watching it closely enough

Look in /etc/acpi/events. For backup I would move the one called power to say in you home folder just in case you wish to use it in the future.

I no file called power then maybe you will need to edit one of the files that contain the power section.

This is one situation where the case with the locking front door would be handy....

Oh did not read your post completely. A few ideas that are simplier.
No idea if the reset can be disabled from the acpi. Doubt it.

Tape over the power switch and for the reset unplug it from the motherboard.
Move the power switch to the back if more secure.
Or add a second switch in series with the power. Have to hit both to power down or up. Kind of like that thing you see in the movie wargames or superman 3.
Change the case out to one that has a locking cover over the power button and so on.
