Directies for NVIDIA shared libraries

Ok, i just installed Quake2 on my linux machine by first copying the whole q2 dir off of a CD and putting it in file://usr/local/games/Quake2. Then i went to the idsoftware FTP site (ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com) and downloaded the tar.gz for quake2 linux. Then when i try to run it with ./quake2 from the terminal it says cannot load ref_softx.so.

Please help! i have all the Nvidia drivers installed sucessfully too!
