defining an external smtp server for mailing results of chkroot cron job


is there any way to set up a default mail smtp server for the system to use to send me results of cron jobs, etc. WITHOUT using sendmail? i do not want to run a mail server on this machine if i can help it...

red hat enterprise ES running latest kernel.
