Question Custom Install CDs????

I have my system set up just the way I like it. Is it possible to create custom install CD's?
I want this not only for backup purposes, but also for sharing. I have a friend who lives on the other side of the country who is in the market for a new computer and wants to use Linux.
His architecture will be similar, but not exactly the same as mine. If I could set this up for him, it could ease his transition. (He's on a Mac now, but wants to switch to PC for his new computer to save $$$$).

Can this be done?

Alternately, can I just backup my current install to a new hard drive and send him the drive?

Thanks, Roy

I don't know how well FC handles hardware changes,
but yes, generally speaking Linux is quite forgiving
looking at different hardware. The cloned, pre-installed
HDD would probably be the easiest way to go, but I
do believe that FC (RH did) has a option to save the
package selections you made during install. Burning
your install to CD and slapping that onto his machine
wouldn't be trivial, if he doesn't know Linux at all you'd
have to put some serious effort into making a set of
installable CD's of your machine.

Cheers,
Tink

I thought that the cloned HDD would be the easiest way to go.
What software do you suggest for cloning?
Does the new HDD have to be the same size as the original?
Thanks.

dd, partimage, cp, tar ... any will do, really. The beauty and
pain of linux - there's always a hundred ways of doing things.

Depends on the software you use... using dd (fastest method)
would (ideally) require identical HDD's. The others would be
more flexible.
