corruption transfering from Ext3 to FAT32

Hi,
I had to replace my CentOS 4 server for a windows 2000 server this morning (dont ask why!!)
I have 2 100gb hard drives in the machine, 1 Ext3 and 1 Fat32. I moved all of my files from the Ext3 drive to the Fat32 drive, then removed the Fat32 drive from the machine, Formatted the Ext3 drive and installed Windows 2000 server then reconnected the Fat32 drive.

on reconnecting the Fat32 drive I have major problems, the files I transfered from the Ext3 drive to the Fat32 drive are all corrupt, but the files that were originally on there are fine...

Does anybody have any ideas?? i dont have a backup.... and i need the files

any help greatly appreciated!!

Are you sure it was FAT32 and not NTFS. I don't know why linux would currupt files to a Fat32 system. I have never had any problems.

Are the files OK when you open them in Linux? (Try a live cd)

Just so that you know, you may have been using a modified version of fat32 that allows UNIX extensions (like permissions, ownership, etc.)
