compiling kernel with icc

Hi,

the icc compiler still cant by itself be used for compiling the kernel because doesn't support all the GNU C-extensions yet. But this doesn't seem like a problem, one who knows nothing about it would tell that this problem its just a matter of adding some macros (?...) but it would be nice to start a discussion about the possibilities of compiling the kernel with icc, given the enormous gain of performance on IA32/64 systems with this compiler , and more generally, with other compilers as well.

I think the potential gain for linux on the broad intel user's community would (in my humble opinion) put windoze as a techie-museum piece, alongside the commodores64 and cobol language
