CHMOD boo boo

Hi,

Its late and I just typed
Code:
chmod 0666 -R *
now virtually everything below a certain point is represented by file icons even though they are directories and I can't descend into them.... However as root in shell I can access and see them as normal using ls...

* I tried using +0666 to no avail, the file/dirs are listed as binary files in Files.

Any ideas please... Thanks

chmod +x -R *

If you've got an rpm based system ie RHEL derivative http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/reset-...ermission.html

Of course this can only fix stuff installed by rpm/yum - for your self-created stuff, you'll have to work it out for yourself.

Or you can use chmod +X -R *

The capital X only matches directories and files that already have execute permission.
