I'm trying to copy an iso image to an external HD. The file is about 4.2G

Here's the error:

cp: cannot lseek `/media/usbdisk_2/MacOSX_11.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso': Invalid argument

What am I doing wrong? When I try through konqueror, it just dies after about 80% of file has been copied. There's defo room on the HD and I can copy other files without issue, just this one giving me a headache.

Suggestions, anyone?

Not sure about this

but have a look at issues for filesystens which do not allow you to copy files greater than 4 Gb.

fat32 has some problem with that.

Just make sure for the same.

Thanks for the reply. The file system is indeed Fat32. However, I managed to copy over a movie which is 4.2G without issue - its just this one file which is giving problems.

Well if you got other file copied then its weird .
you can have a look in google for "copying files 4 GB fat32"

FAT32's limit is 4GB dunno how you copied a movie over..... was it compressed? split into several archives as, ahem, some files from certain sources are? :P

What I managed to copy over was a tv series which was in one folder - split into diferent episodes - of a total of 4.3G.

Here's something of interest - even though the shell returned the above error in my original post, an icon still appeared on the external HD. I burned the file using K3b and it approved the md5 sum. Is that possible because, according to konqueror, the file is smaller than the original file that is on my internal HD?

Anyhow, what I was trying to boot was unsuccessful so nothing lost I guess .....
