Angry Cannot install or remove software and cannot update my system!

I'm sorry if this is not the exact place where i'm supposed to be. I'm pissed off, i hate this so much, it kills my precious time!
What in the world must I do to fix this problem?
I am just trying to fix my audio (by the way I am using amarok or dragon player), I can see that the music is playing but there is no sound at all. I tried so many ways to troubleshoot but I am not a pro when it comes to linux/Mandriva 2010.2. I tried to install software and update but it keeps on saying that i have to insert meduim "main media" i'm so tired of all the frustrations. Isn't there any way to update without that "main-media"? please help.

Hello,

I don't know anything about Mandriva but I'm almost sure that you haven't set up any repositories after installing from CD/DVD because your system keeps asking for the 'main media'. Have a look at this page (the Introduction part) which contains all the instructions to set up your system to connect to the internet to get updates and install software.
Mandriva Wiki

And don't loose patience, there's always a solution at hand for those who look or ask.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hey Thanks Eric. I'm sorry for that attitude.
Does that mean I need to have that CD/DVD?
Well, before I proceed to Mandriva Wiki...

Hi,

No problem. If you only have the CD/DVD configured as repository, that is, if you haven't set up Mandriva to use external repositories, then yes, you'll need the CD/DVD to install / update software packages.

Kind regards,

Eric

For Mandrive 2011.0, to add the contrib media:

Code:
su -lc "urpmi.addmedia --mirrorlist '$MIRRORLIST' \"Contrib (Official 2011.0-9)\" media/contrib/release"
I guess you can substitute the main for contrib 2010.2 for 2011.0. I'm not really a Mandrive user, so I hope this helps.

This adds the specified media to the repo database. I can't say if Mandriva auto updates the db. If yes, you will need an internet connection.

Have you tried the Mandriva forums http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/mandriva-30/ ?
