Unhappy cannot find librep

Hello. I am trying to install sawfish but it tells me that it cannot find librep. I have installed librep and have located it to /usr/lib.

I have also added /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.conf.so

What should I do now. Please help.

**Another question: I am new to Linux and I have realized everytime I try to install software, it tells me that I am missing some other library or application. And when I install that I find out that I'm missing another library. It keeps going down the tree and take sooo long (if at all) to install what I originally intented to install. Is there a faster way to do this????

Thanks so much.
