Question Cannot boot redhat 7.2

Hi,

The story is that my notebook had 4 OS - win98, win2k prof, win2k server and redhat7.2

The win2k prof was suffered virus and could not be repaired. I formatted and removed win2k prof and reinstalled it.

Then, the window98 lost one registry for a program and the redhat cannot be booted again. It returns to the GRUB > text mode screen.

I used bootmagic as the boot manager. Now, how can I boot redhat again? The notebook cannot detect the USB floppy drive and I have not bootable floppy disk created.

Do I need to re-install it or just amend the boot image?

Pls advise.

Thanks in advance.

The Red Hat installer CD should double as a rescue disk, set the BIOS to boot from cd, load it up, drop to a shell and reinstall LILO/GRUB.

Thanks

redhat 7.2 boot

if you can boot from cdrom then use the cdrom as a rescue disk and after that do chroot /mnt/sysyimage .If all it is Ok then you are in your's linux box.Try mc and see.Afther that you must reinstall

grub.If it was install on Master boot record reinstall with /sbin/grub-install /dev/hda or /dev/hd.x where x is the drive and the partition where grub was installed.Good Luck!
