Can Linux read NTFS files and viceversa?

I have two hard disks with XP Pro FAT32 on one, XP Pro NTFS on the other. I intend to again install Linux (you, stubborn fool you!), probably Lycoris or Mandrake 9. Will I be able to read and write to the NTFS partition and viceversa?

Thanks

welcome to linuxquestions, but PLEASE search for information before asking questions http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...der=descending

the short answer, for both, is "no" though.

Gidday!

Firstly I second that http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/search.php is a VERY good idea ... :}

The LONG answer, however, is that you can compile Linux with
NTFS read and even write support (the latter is *not* recommended,
though, because that part is still in early development)...

NT can't read any of the Linux native filesystems, though :)

Cheers,
Tink
