I've got no local network, but i'm interested in using distcc, is there a possibility of using it via internet, not ethernet? if yes, how do I do that?
It would work in just the same way: it doesn't care about the media, just about a tcp connection. I'm not sure if the latency of the internet and so forth would be worth it unless you have a VERY slow system.
even though it could be faster, it isn't that slow. i've got Athlon XP 1700+. my connection's bandwidth is 768kbps up and down, so i thought it could be worth it. however i dunno where should i find a list of servers
Well, someone would have to run distcc on a public server. I'm not sure how secure that is. Though it does make me wonder about possibly setting up a distcc cluster and letting others use it over an SSH tunnel.... hrrm.
