can I make a liveCD use HD's home folder?

I have the impression that at least some liveCD distros can mount and use the home folder from my HD distro. Is that true? If so, how do I do it?

As long as the distro supports the same filesystem the hard drive has been formatted with, then mount it the same as you mount any other partition. For example, if you wish to mount your /home partition which is on hda2, and has been formatted with the ext3 filesystem, you would do something like this:

Search for "persistent" liveCDs. They save config info onto a USB (or similar) and allow you to restart back to a preferred state - including mounts I expect.

Some live distributions such as Slax recognize and mount all devices during boot procedures.

Years ago I had a laptop with no hard drive running on a Ubuntu live cd, downloading Open Office over wireless and saved it to a usb flash drive. I would think most live cds should be able to mount hard drive partitions through Administrative Tools and then write to them. Probably even to ntfs with current distros.
