A modern DVD player usually has a number of file formats and disc formats it can read. Many may be posted on it or in manual. Find out what the most advanced one is but usually if you already have mp3 you might get some smaller size with a different format or maybe reduce quality of mp3.

I use K3b to backup data to CD/DVD.

Thank you for your help.
I would rip the tracks from the CD using "cdda2wav -B" (plus any other options as needed). Rename the "audio_NN.wav" files to something else (i.e. "<tracktitle>.wav"). Then move on to the next CD. After all the ripping and renaming is done, create a new K3b project to burn them to a DVD. I've done this and it works fine. Our DVD players all seem to recognize MP3 files on a DVD as well so that might be another way you could go. (Sadly, our players don't recognize FLAC formatted files---which would be nice as that's my go-to format when ripping my audio CDs.)

HTH...
