Can't start networking even off Recue disk

Hi,

I'm having problems with a Dell Dimension 9100 running RedHat Enterprise WS v.4. When the machine boots up normally, it takes an extremely long time to boot up, and then doesn't allow users, even root, to log in. It appears as though the login simply times out.

Because of this I have tried to boot of the installation disk and go to linux rescue. When I run 'linux rescue' and don't tell it to start network services I get my prompt and the get into my system with the chroot command. Everything seems to work fine so I rebooted and tried to run 'linux rescue' but this time with networking. As soon as I enter my static IP address and network mask I get a blue error screen that says:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/anaconda", line 604, in ? resuce.runRescue(rootPath, not rescue_nomount, id) File "/usr/lib/anaconda/rescue.py", line 209, in run Rescue rc = apply(win, (screen, ) + args)b>/<Alt-Tab> between elements | <Space> selects | <F12> next screen Type Error: __call__() takes exactly 6 arguments (5 given) install exited abnormally

Then it tells me it's sending termination signals and umounting all the file systems. One other thing, the above error messages are thrown all over the screen, not in an easily readible fashion. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem and how to fix it? Thanks so much.

Apparently this whole problem was caused by a bad ethernet cord. I swapped out the ethernet cord and put in a new one and all is well. Confused the heck out of me, hopefully this helps someone out.
