Angry can't login to regular user account

Hi,

I am running redhat 9 on a p3.

I've been trying to get a printer configured all day, and finally got pretty close. I logged out of my user account and when I tried to log back on, I cant login.

When I try loging in, I enter my password, press enter and it goes right back to the login prompt.

I can log in as root. And I can su to my regular user account, I just can't login. I'm not sure if there is a log describing what is happening.

Not sure what this is, but I could sure use some help on this.

Do you get any messages or it just goes back to login?

If you get no errors then check your .bashrc file and .bash_profile, you can even rename them and try login to see if they are causing the problem.

Hi

There seems to be a problem. I was also one of the un-lucky guys. I did a small workaround and was able to log in.

Just open /etc/shadow or /etc/passwd file and change the last 0:0:0 to 99999:99999:0

Verify this with the other lines too. The root will contain such a line and you can use the same values.

Regards
