How do I login as a regular user?

I'm trying to install Linux 1.1 but the instructions say to login as a regular user to run the ./setup. I am new to Linux (I use RedHat 9) and have only logged in as root, then password. How do I login as a regular user?

Have you created a user account? If you haven't then do:

useradd myusername
passwd myusername

Then type in the password for the user 'myusername' twice and you will have a new account. You can then login.

When you ran RH9 for the first time after the install, you should have been prompted to create a new user. Otherwise, what Crashed_Again said.
