Can't get to GUI login screen on Fedora

I'm running Fedora 26 and have been for the past week, but now all of the sudden all I get is the command line, I have tried startx but it doesn't work (presumably due to Fedora 26 using Wayland instead). What should I do? I was doing stuff in the command line earlier today trying to get alsa to output virtual 7.1 surround sound but I don't see how this would be related.

Look at the errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, which is rewritten every time. Post the errors at the end if you don't understand them. Don't post 10,000 lines.

I don't see anything that looks like an error there, any other places I should look?

Look at the last few lines of the log. Find out what it was doing when it crashed.

Sorry, I meant that it started showing me no GUI after I had turned my PC off. I turned my PC off for 10 mins to go do something and when I came back and turned my PC on it wouldn't show me the GUI anymore. It was absolutely fine before hand. So nothing crashed. I'll edit the question to make that more clear.
EDIT: Just realized I can't edit the title of the thread.

Are you saying that you turned the computer off without shutting down? That's never a good idea. You might have corrupted something on your hard drive. What happens when you reboot? Do you get any odd messages?

So after reinstalling the group "GNOME Desktop Environment" everything works, so I must have corrupted something it looks like, I'll try to get out of the habit of shutting down by holding the power button on my PC, I started that habit because a while back I had a pretty unstable system and so every time I crashed I would have to do that. Thanks for the help
