I have the same groups on my system
adm and powerdev, no wheel

Quote:
cannabis:/home/repo# cat /etc/group | grep wheel
cannabis:/home/repo# cat /etc/group | grep adm
adm:x:4:logcheck
lpadmin:x:113:
stb-admin:x:115:
cannabis:/home/repo# cat /etc/group | grep power
powerdev:x:117:repo
cannabis:/home/repo#
Can't you boot from a live cd, and see how they did it?

I have been booting from it and many offshoots alot
my pc gets rebooted about 100 times a day!
LOL

I make one
mksquashfs it
put it on usb or a hd partition
boot up nopersistent
check it out, look around
reboot and boot persistent with live-rw
setup desktop,etc for user
transfer user's /home/user/* folder
to /etc/skel of the uncompressed squashfs on my desktop
hit etc/skel with

Code:
chown -R root:root etc/skel/*

chown -R root:root etc/skel/.*
so everythings Kosher there
then update-iniramfs blah blah
and tranfser kernel/initrd's from squashfs-root to
image folder, also renaming them respectively

Code:
cp squashfs-root/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-486 image/live/vmlinuz1
cp squashfs-root/boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-2-486 image/live/initrd1.img

cp squashfs-root/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686 image/live/vmlinuz2
cp squashfs-root/boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-2-686 image/live/initrd2.img
and you know its mostly a script
cept for adding the desktop stuff

heres the script i am working on
its messy so sorry
its a work-in-progress
it uses the debian standard debian-live i386 iso
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/re...e/i386/iso-cd/

hers the script so far....its about 500+MB
and has many aps including clamav stuff too

http://multidistro.com/deb/rezcu/rescue

and heres all the stuff

http://multidistro.com/deb/rezcu/packages.txt
