Hey, I have a friend who knows nothing about Linux, but likes the concept very much and seems interested. However, he's a little daunted by the prospect of jumping right in, so I figured I'd give him a LiveCD and let him try it out.
The problem is his main PC is a Tablet PC (I don't know the model) and I don't know which LiveCD distro is most likely to be able to support his hardware. I don't want to hand him a LiveCD just so it can fail miserably, as that would most likely turn him off Linux completely.
He uses his tablet everywhere he goes and frequently connects to various WiFi networks of different configurations (some open, some secure with WEP or WAP etc...) However, he's not a techie and has never even used the WindowsXP CLI (I asked him to open a command prompt to find his IP once and he said "What's that?") so I'de like to get him a LiveCD that works as much out-of-the-box as possible and has easy, but powerful config tools for things like wireless.
So does anyone have any experience running a tablet PC from a LiveCD? Which distro is most likely to be able to support his hardware? Which one has an easy graphical WiFi setup program (that supports WEP, WAP etc...)?
