Best disto for server


Hi...

I just want to build a new server with Linux. So which Linux distro is best suite for Server? Any ideas or opinion?

There is no accurate answer for your question since most Linux distros will work fine on a server. RHEL (or free rebuilds such as CentOS), SLES and Debian seem to be very popular in the enterprises so I would urge you to try one of those.

Well, most Gentoo users would say Gentoo, most Ubuntu users would say Ubuntu, etc. What do want to do with the server? Will you mostly be serving web pages, smtp, web caching, dns, etc? Does it need to run on older hardware? Do you want speed, ease of use, need a GUI or just a command line?

So many questions. If you could please post some thoughts on what you want from a server and I'm sure I (or others) can give you a better answer.

ist right all say that about this system then use every day, i not self run whit Debain bot i have use Debian before and i like this system to server Ubuntu ist good go if you will lern it easy and quick Debain ist a small harder way

bot you can rune SuSE, Red Hat and more of systems my best ide is test systems and find out of how you most like and run this system you like

Hi Guyz....
