Backup a Folder

Hi,

I want to get backup of a folder to a mount folder. How can i achieve this task?

Example, I want to get /home folder backup to /temp_srv. You can see details at below of disk status.

I am using this command but it isnt working. What is the wrong?

[root@34istlinux ~]# tar cvf /temp_srv/ /home/
tar: /temp_srv/: Cannot open: Is a directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
[root@34istlinux ~]#

[root@34istlinux ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVolRoot
14G 4.8G 8.1G 38% /
/dev/sda1 99M 12M 83M 13% /boot
tmpfs 252M 0 252M 0% /dev/shm
//10.70.48.20/Acronis
100G 89G 12G 89% /temp_srv
[root@34istlinux ~]#

Also, what is the best way of backup a folder?

Thanks.

use `cp`

By the way, they are only folders in Windows. Everywhere else they are directories.

Your English makes it very difficult to help you.

Backup with:
Code:
cp -av source destination
I do not know what you mean by "for get backup a mount point".
