As root or better Super-User go to Preferences->System->Login Manager and I am sure it's the 2nd to last or last tab that you edit the auto-login user info etc...Sorry, i'm in Windows. But that should be where you will find 'er...Obvioulsy if you are logged in as a user and not root, when you get to the login manager section you should see a 'modify' button on the bottom/right that will allow you to input root's password to become SU.
