After doing 'alsactl store' and rebooting, volume settings are not saved. I've installed the libs, drivers and utils from ALSA's website and the version is 1.0.14.
$cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [CK804 ]: NFORCE - NVidia CK804
NVidia CK804 with ALC850 at irq 22
Something else of possible interest is the following...
$sudo /etc/init.d/alsasound restart
Shutting down sound driver: done
Starting sound driver: snd-intel8x0 done
/usr/sbin/alsactl: load_state:1329: No soundcards found...
However, after reboot, I do not have to run alsaconf again like I do after restarting alsasound.
I've read that maybe adding 'alsactl restore' to rc.local would do the trick but I'm not sure where to add it... anywhere in the file, or what?
The file where alsactl stores volume information is /etc/asound.state
If the card is visible to alsamixer, it can be edited by hand...
Is Your module 'snd_intel8x0' blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist ? It would prevent auto-loading
