Angry ALSA can only accept one channel

This has been happening since I switched to slackware. If I run KDE or fluxbox for example, which opens a sound channel, I can't run other programs with sound.

Funny thing is, when I switch off the program that runs sound while a previous program running with sound, the first program that couldn't play the sound (ie. my messenger) will suddenly play it all at once after the second program has quit.

Its not a hardware, problem or my card's incompatability since it works fine in other distros.

I use ALSA...being advanced architechture, I thought it could play multiple channels.

Help.
