ahh, the mysteries of Linux

Does this make any sense to anyone, When I log on as root (already turned DMA on permanently) Ogle works flawlessly.
But when I log in as a user, Ogle is slightly choppy?? Go figure.
Also when I log in as root, I can add the kppp button to the panel, no problem.

But when I log in as a user and try to add kppp button to the panel, the panel locks up, If I click on any icon, including the Redhat (start) Nothing happens, the desktop is froze. Go figure.
Anyone have a clue, Linux is not this buggy.

are they using the same local path or is root using another one, make sure that the user has all the permissions it needs, best to chown 777 * -vR in the dir it is installed in and
chown user * -vR
