Accessing the internet

I got my PCMCIA ethernet card (3Com 3C589D) to be recognized by Mandrake 9.0, but my router shows only the Link/Act signal to be active and not the 10/100 LED. So, I am unable to connect to the internet. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Does the router list your machine as a connected device?

How do I check? It's a standard SOHO wired router connected to a cable modem.
