Personally, I don't feel much of a difference. I think that the step from 2.2 to 2.4 was bigger for an average desktop user.

I think it was worth it just for the upgrade from the Open Sound System to ALSA (with OSS emulation)... no more /dev/dsp errors!

I find the new kernel to be a lot more responsive when under heavy CPU load. I can compile anjuta in the background, and not notice any difference in how Firefox responds.

Remember that a kernel upgrade can also clear security problems. (Also can create) but there might be something you need. I am waiting for more wireless support but hey do the upgrade.
