2.6.18/2.6.18.1: init_udevd_socket

Hi!
I tried to compile both 2.6.18 and 2.6.18.1, because they both come with smart battery system modules. It's has been atleast half of year, since I brought this laptop [Acer Aspire - 5004WLMi] and never got my battery monitor showing. I tried other distros [I use Slackware 11.0 now], but without any luck. I tried to compile the kernels so many times, but always failed to get smart battery to working. Now when I compiled these kernels, I got this at the boot:
Code:
init_udevd_socket: error initializing udevd socket: Illegal seek
And it just keeps showing and thats it, I never was able to login. I want to get this thing working so bad!! Any suggestions please? Thank you!
