2.4.26 No framebuffer or bootsplash

Something is seriously wrong with the 2.4.26 kernel. I have no options to enable a framebuffer . Have no 'Device Drivers---->' section. None of the ussual stuff I had in 2.4.25.... The only option that I have is 'initrd support' and 'Virtual Console'..... I patched the kernel to enable bootsplash and that is nowhere to be found at all.... There are only 2 options under 'Console Drivers---->'. This is really strange.

Sorry to be so vauge but theres not much else I can say. It's just not there..... Has anyone ran into this or is anyone running a 2.4.26 kernel and sucessfully using bootsplash and a framebuffer? Thanks!

Jon

I have installed 2.4.26 on few systems in the past 2 months patching it with NAT and ACL so that I can use H323 control in the IP-tables and ACL-XFS and I can not understand what you are talking about.

On all of those systems the kernel configuration is as it should be.

Did you have a look in your .config ... may be something went wronge while patching.

Start from the beginning - download the kernel untar/unzip copy the directory like cp -Rvp linux-2.4.26 linux-2.4.26_orig and patch the linux-2.4.26 sources - you can see what is going wrong using diff afterwords.

I like 2.4.26 very much ..... it's worth - working like a charm!

Try reDownloading the kernel package ... sometimes eventhough a package aint fully downloaded, it doesn't display any errors (packager error? i.e, the prog u use to unpack/view)

That happened to me like .. "people who hate microsoft" times

Hope this works! ^_^

Well, it did it on the kernel source Slak 10 dropped on me and it did it on a vanilla source from kernel.org. I must have something screwy in my config file. Didn't check something or that patch buggered things up... I'll wait on 2.4.27 before I try again so I don't have to patch for libata as well.... Thanks tho...
