So I got myself a domain. I would like to have ssh access to the hosted account, free email, storage, bandwidth, and I dont want ANY ads. Can anyone save me lots of headache and point me in the right direction?
Hostgator is a good one but I am not sure if they have ssh access. I vaguely remember that something needed a valid drivers license, been awhile and I can't remember what it was. I think it had to do with root access or something. But the rest of what you want is there. It starts at 4.95 USD a month.
Edit: I just checked. They do have ssh with all of their plans.
I ended up going with iPage.
However, i am having a hell of a time getting everything to point to the host. DNS,MX, and the ipage cpanel points to the correct folder. However, I still get those default search portal pages. Its only been a few hours though. I thought things would be faster. If DNS and MX propagate almost instantly...why isnt my saite showing up?
I believe it takes 24-48 hours or so for the domain name to update and point to your webhost. I may be wrong, its been quite awhile since I set anything like that up.
