Getting a CD of Linux Boss.
Hello,
I am an Indian citizen. I require an operating system in Hindi language. I have heard that BOSS Linux supports Hindi. But, I am trapped in a great confusion. The problem is that I have failed to know if the CD ROM of BOSS Lixux is sold retail in the market. If yes, can I get it in the markets of Guwahati or Kolkata? Will any of you help me?
First of all, I would like to thank Druuna as he has liked our language.
As Road_map said that BOSS Linux is free, I also knew that. But, my Internet connection is not fast enough to download BOSS Linux from the internet. That's why, I am looking for its CD. Please give me some information about that matter. I also saw the Ubuntu forum site. But, I think, BOSS is better. It is a latest release. Mr./Mrs. Road_map and Mr./Mrs. Druuna, please enlighten me about the matter.
Please have a look at this page: http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=07/03/12/1631206
Yes,druuna and brianL, all Indo-European languages have link with Sanskrit.
I also thank Road_map for replying me again and giving me the new links.
If you are, indeed, new to Linux tusharmj, then I would suggest that you tried the main stream distros mentioned first i.e. Ubuntu, Mandriva, CentOS (which is redhat based), etc etc.
For no other reason, than that no only do they (apparently - guessing as I speak no Hindi, and rely on the accuracy of others posts/suggestions) support your native Hindi, but because they are also more widely used, hence if you encountered any "distro specific" problems, then you are likely to be able to get help so much quicker, due to the greater number of other users "out there".
Plus it's probable (not guaranteed of course) that there will be less bugs due to the greater amount of peer review.
regards
John
p.s. and yes, I agree with druuna, the hindi is indeed a very beautiful text to look at - I've also seen Tamil which I've liked, not forgetting the "true masters" of calligraphy, the Japenese.
