ZSNES brings up old saved game

Me and my son have been playing Zelda on ZSNES for a month or two with no problems. Then today when we go to play it is bringing up a very old saved game, practically at the start of the game. Anyone know why it would do this and if there is a way to get the recent save back?

Are you using save by states? Maybe you're accidentally saving the state then loading it. Once an old state is loaded, the normal save is also overwritten.

I have not saved by states, but it is possible that someone did this. Thank you for the reply.

If that's really the case and you don't really use save-states, maybe it's better if you just disable the shortcut keys for saving states. Sometimes it's just accidentally pressed.

You should also check if ZSNES's save directory is still proper and writeable (not read-only).
