I recently bought Wine Rack 3.2, hoping to play some of my Windows games on my Linux computer. I tried to install Warcraft III and it installed, but I can't start the program. I've fiddled around w/ the configuration and stuff, but I can't seem to get it to work. If any of you out there know what I'm talking about and know how to fix it please tell me how!
I'm a paying member of transgaming (http://www.transgaming.com) and if my memory serves me right warcraft 3 is officially supported by them. Check out there website and see what they have to offer. There service isn't expensive, $5 bucks a month and you really get what you pay for.
I have a great time playing warcraft 3 and the frozen throne expansion using winex 3.2 and it runs perfect for me. This is coming from personal experience.

i have the last version of wine and it runs fine. with the exception that i could not start a new game, but once i found a savegame and loaded it, i had no more troubles.
I got the warcraft to run under the wine, but is actually very slow to play. Any idea. It use to run perfectly under Windows. I'm running Red Hat 9, 256 Ram, 64 MB Nvidia video???
Any idea?
1) Make sure you're using a no-CD crack
2) rename the Movies directory to something else like Movies_DISABLED, for some reason it froze on the intro movie for me, this may fix your problem... it fixed mine
3) run it with "wine War3.exe -- -opengl" otherwise it'll be sloooooooooooow
