UT2004 won't run with the latest (8.16.20) fglrx driver
Hello, everybody. I just downloaded and installed the latest fglrx driver, and to my dismay, Unreal Trounament 2004 will no longer start. The splash screen comes on, and then, about the time it should go into the game, it disappears and the game doesn't come up. It worked before the driver upgrade. I am using Slackware 10.1 with kernel 2.6.12.4-ck5.
Has anybody else had this problem or is it just my computer?

Rep:
check /home/you/.ut2004/System/ut2004.log
it should show some sort of error and, if you could, post the log.
also check the output of glxinfo
make sure it says "direct rendering: Yes"
if not then there is a problem with the ati driver (can't help with that, I've got a Nvidia card but plenty of others have just do a search)

Here's the output of running ut2004 from the konsole:
Code:
<~/.ut2004/System>
[dane@Orchestrator System]$ ut2004

Anything seem out of place?
Thanks!

Edit: I changed the resolution in UT2004.ini to the same as my desktop. The game runs now, but at a MUCH slower speed due te the resolution change. The same phenomenon seems to be happening with ppracer, trigger and Enemy Territory (although ET will run at a different resolution, but not at full screen). Has anybody else had experience with this driver?
