hi, I have asked this in planet unreal with no reply.

I installed ut2004 then patched to 3236 manually.
Unfortunately it now hangs for approx 60 seconds while loading either the game or a map.
Can I add a timestamp to the logs to further diagnose?
Also is there a linux installer for a patch or do you just copy the files from the archive? The readme isn't very helpful as it is just a changelog and there is no installer script in the patch I downloaded. Further to this it does mention an installer and that it will "not delete any of your .ini files, only append them as nessecary". I did need to append some window info to the user.ini but there are too many files to sift through to look for these types of things.
Any help is much appreciated.

this also happens to a fresh install (no patch). Could it be a network host lookup timeout? might I need a port opened in my firewall? hmm...

I have downloaded patch v.3323.tar.gz, I still have no idea how to install it. The System folder contains a setup.int and setup.ini but I have no idea how to use them. Anyone?
