Unhappy Trigger not working smoothly

I recently downloaded Trigger, a car racing game from here. I downloaded the source and built it. but when I started the game, I noticed that the game not works smoothly, i.e. it stops, starts, stops, starts and so on (Sorry, but I don't know how to describe it properly. Perhaps a problem with 3d acceleration). What exactly is the problem, and how should it be solved?

you can test your 3d performance easily: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-t...l-performance/. Can you post your results?

I recently found something surprising. The game works perfectly when I launch it from Gnome Classic or Unity 2D. It only becomes problematic when I open it from Unity 3D.

I guess unity 3d checks some 3d features and probably that was not found, therefore switched it off globally.
