No, here it is. When u download the CVS version of Cedega (formerly known as winex, >> FORMERLY <<) u dont get everything, meaning the copy protectino (the install shields on games for that matter) wont always work right, and u wont have EVERYTHING u get in the bought version. But seriously, its worth buying the full version, but u want to try it out before u buy it, so when I can finaly get into frankscorner.org (which seems to be under maitenence or they did something ilegaly, dont know, I can give u the link to the script. Till then just use wine ... heres what u gotta do. Just follow my steps, not too hard i hope, and u should be playing ur game before the WON severs go down.
1. Download wine, from here.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ackage_id=6301 get
Wine-20040615-i686-S10.tgz because I had problems with the latest one. If it doesnt work, then reply back and ill show u one thats older, that works.
2. Uncompress it. Go into a terminal, and "cd" into thedirectory u downloaded the file from (ie. cd /home/SlackwareMan/downloads) type "tar zxvf Wine-20040615-i686-S10.tgz, itll start to uncompress the the stuff in that "tar ball" (thats what they call package thats "tar"ed and "gz"ed) to a directory in the same folder (so ie. /home/SlackwareMan/downloads/Wine-20040615-S10 -- maybe different, shouldnt be to hard to find) "cd" into that directory, and go into ROOT, by typing "su", put ur root password in, and type the following...
./configure
make
make install
It should take a while for it to compile everything, so go watch a program between make, and make install. Afterwards, type exit, to exit out of root, and type "wine" it should start making the directorys (talk about that later) for ur home folder and the build name of wine should appear along with some other lines of words. NOW, go into a terminal, and type "cd .wine" and type "ls" to list the contents of that folder u should see ur FAKE windows folder and a c_drive or a fake_windows, could be different just go into this folder with ur file browser, and ull notice its just like windows, this is where all the programs u try to install go into, now if u see that then thats a good sign. Now this is where u install ur game, pop in the cd, and mount it (if Gnome or KDE doesnt do it for u already)--NOTE: mounting something manualy isnt hard, just type "mount /mnt/cdrom or dvdrom" and to unmount just type "umount /mnt/cdrom or dvdrom" simple? If u want more tips on it just ask-- go into a terminal, and type "cd /mnt/cdrom" or "dvdrom" depending on what u have, if u dont know, in ur file browser type this in the URL, /mnt press enter and u should see all the devices, u should know what the name of ur drive is, its simple, cdrom or dvdrom, unless u have it on flash stick or something. Type "ls" to list the files in that CD and folder names, and files should show up, if its a cs folder, look for "autorun.exe" or "setup.exe" mine says "setup.exe" so we will go with that. Now in that same terminal, u DONT have to be in root to do this too, just to let u know, type "wine setup.exe" and the a menu screen of counter-strike should come up. Just go through the stuff u would normaly go through in windows, and install it. (remember, all the files are going to be install in .wine/c_drive or fake_windows folder) after it is done, go into a terminal (dont bother to start the game up on the desktop, its missing a command option, that u would want in cs anyways. In a terminal, type "cd .wine/c_drive(or whatever)/Sierra/Counter-Strike/" enter, again, the names could be slightly different, just type ls to know where u are going. now type "wine cstrike.exe -console" the game should start up with an error, and if u want to make it faster, put "&& renic 10 "pgrep wineserver" at the end of what I told u to put down ( so ie. wine cstrike.exe -console "pgrep wineserver" <<< exactly like that.
If I wasnt clear on something, just reply back, and Ill make it easier to understand what I said, cuz I was in a rush to do something, SRY! Hope it works.
