Quake 1&2 and Doom 1&2 on linux: engines

I got Quake 1&2 and Doom 1&2 and would like to play em on Linux. This is the problem: There is too many engines available for Quakes and Dooms. So I'm asking if you could suggest engines.

I'd suggest the DarkPlaces engine. It compiles and runs flawlessly for me and it looks great too.

And for Doom I'd suggest the DoomLegacy engine, it is also cool.
