prboom (doom) help

I can't get expansion WADs to play.

I've installed prboom and the DoomI and II WAD files, and both of those work great. I'm now trying to play some of the additional home made WADs that are out there.

To launch the ID wads I use:
prboom -iwad ~/wads/DOOM.WAD
or
prboom -iwad ~/wads/DOOM2.WAD

I've placed the expansion wads (example http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=11790 Alien Vendetta) into ~wads/av/

It won't play:

I've tried this with several WAD packs, so I don't believe it to be AV specific.

Any idea what's wrong?

It's been a while since I've played prboom (sigh), but aren't there separate switches for the IWAD (e.g. DOOM2.WAD) and WAD (e.g. av.wad)? You need to specify both.
