PCSX2 performance and graphics issues

Hi! I'm running manjaro kde 16.08. Recently I installed PCSX2 and use these settings: https://imagebin.ca/v/2xDc6paDLpjk

I've tried two games and both have issues. Metal Gear Solid 2 is unplayable when it rains on the tanker at the beginning of the game. The codec scenes and videos play fine. I suspect the rain is drastically affecting my performance.

The other issue is the text in Xenosaga III. The text is all messed up. Normally the text has a black shadow. But in PCSX2 that show has been moved on top of the text.

So something is wrong.....just not sure what.

Edit: I've been looking for a way to try another video plugin but I'm not sure how to get them.

I've found that frame skipping (in GS-something settings) is the only way to get the speed to an acceptable level on linux (Arch here). I use 2 skipped and 1 shown. It's a pity that PCSX2 doesn't even offer adaptive frame skipping when performance is a known issue, at least under Linux (under Win it is said to be optimised better).
