Nopes,
wine has lots of directx support. Runs games almost as well as winex.
Many games put down that they require the newest version to look 'cool' but truly they don't.
I think max payne 2 is the same way.
The real difference is in support that you get. A lot more from winex then from wine. You also get a neater way of installing and keeping track of games (point2play), and it has support for copyright protection systems. You currently need a crack to run the games in wine (mostly anyway), not so with many winex games.
On the bright side cracks = no cd, so it's perfect
I hate having to keep my cd busy.
And.. actually winex runs lots of applications quite well. Transgaming noticed this and they announced they want to release a version of winex for apps a month ago or so.
Max Payne works perfectly, but I have no clue about version 2.
If you bought the winex version you can send an email to the Transgaming support and ask them.
