Linux Doom

Hi Guys,

Has anyone here used the legacy installer to install Doom/Doom2?

Is there any better installers?

What are the graphics like on this?

Thank you

I have not tried, but doom legacy for Win32 is pretty good. My brother is the head developer for the goldeneye doom 2 mod.

@ Mahony!

Could you not try it out first and then see if it works or not? I can see that you did not even downloaded the package since, well, there's nothing to install either, it's a pre-compiled package. Download the tar, uncompress and then run:

./llxdoom /path-to-wad/.wad

or

./lsdldoom /path-to-wad/.wad

You must to have doom.wad, doom2.wad, etc.

That's all.

If you need a doom wad, use freedoom.

I see. Ok, well, unless you use high resolutions textures and md2 models, the graphics are not that great. Little improvements on the menus, some nice casting lights effects, a particle engine and mouse look added. It's nice, but it's no match for jDoom:

believe me .
