I succeeded in installing GB under wine, but when trying to play, the login box is completely black (although you can enter text). I managed to locate the login and password boxes, entered them and press OK, but it just hangs...I don't remember the exact error, as I tryed long ago, but i remember also that it didn't work either with cvs WineX.
The funny thing is that with cvs WineX i couldn't even launch the installer with some nasty access violation, but i could with wine....
Anyway, it doesn't work, so i think we will have to wait until GIS team will make a Linux port (something i really don't expect, but hope is the last thing you lose )
Well guys i gave it a shot even though i never have any idea what im doing on linux (i havent been using it very long).
using wine i managed to get the log in screen up just fine except where usualy they would have a message it would be white. but when i try to log in the log in screen disapears like it should but the game guard stuff never comes up. so i dont know what up with that but im gonna keep trying.
perhaps i should of been more elaberate. thing is you have to subscribe for it. but also somthing about you can get it free but you have to build it yourself or somthin. i found some instructions for it and i was gonna give it a shot thing is i dont know how to get that stupid cvs tree of it from that site. i guess that makes sense i dont know.
i think you can get the cvs nonsense at transgaming i dont know. like i said i never know what im doing on linux. i recently made a permanent switch from windows cause it was pissing me off and kept crashing on me. so im a real linux noob. but i try.
1st thing, ya u can get it through CVS still. Go to linux-gamers.net, and look for the how-to for cedega CVS. (should be front page) Its an easy way to get it.
2nd, I got just as far as anyone else. I used wine to install gunbound, useb both to start up gunbound, can update. But I get memory errors, as soon as I log in. O well, I guess whatever I learn from programming at my highschool, ima try to make my self a good wormlike game.
more power to you man. gunbound is horibly made anyway. nice concept just wish they would go about it correctly. wish i knew how to code stuff and do graphic stuff to make games.
I got Gunbound to the login screen, then the next launch thing where it downloads updates, then I got to download NProtect updates, the updates download, it did its authetnticating or whatever, then it looked like it was gonna start, then it just stops.

Thats amusing, you proclaim something is badly made, then claim you wish you knew how to make it....
Eitherway, im thinking of trying gunbound again on my gentoo box, but i can't find a story of ANYONE who's got it to work correctly, so im thinking im letting my self in for a long world of pain....
