Guild Wars in Cedega and wine texture and FPS problems

I'm having some issues running Guild Wars under Ubuntu 8.04. I've tried both Cedega 6.0 and wine 0.9.59 with the same results.

The game installs and starts fine with no issues. The problems are that:

1. There are no ground textures. All ground textures and some textures on the other players are not there making the game almost unplayable.

Processor: Pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz
Video: GeForce FX 5200 (128mb)
Ram: 512MB

I have the latest Nvidia drivers

2. I have maybe 4-5 fps, again making the game nearly unplayable. Granted my system is not a gaming rig, but it's not THAT bad. Especially for a game 3-4 yrs old. (Prophecies)

Has anyone seen or heard of this texture issue before? Is my system really that bad that this game would be unplayable? I know my gear is getting a bit outdated but so is the original Guild Wars. I have the same low fps on games like WoW where I'm lucky to get 8-12 fps.

I've had similar issue running Guild Wars in wine, with both ATI and Nvidia. With Nvidia, I got very low FPS (nearly unplayable inside cities), while with ATI, some textures were broken and even limbs missing in my character with ATI. And that was (at the time) with a dual-core rig.

With Wow, fps got a lot better by starting the game with wine <whatever to wow.exe> -opengl flag, but that destroyed the action bars completely, making it unplayable.

I'd highly recommend you to dual boot with Windows if you want to play those games (or any other games for that matter). Unless you consider acceptable to run the games half-broken and slower. Some people accept that, I just can't =).
