Could not find required OpenGL entry point.

I was trying to run portal after having installed steam using the slackbuild provided here.

I received this error--
"could not find required OpenGL entry point 'g1GetError' either your video card is unsupported, or your openGL driver needs to be updated.

-note: Half-Life seems to run beautifully.

Edit: I installed the current AMD beta driver for my HD 7850 already.

Removed steam, removed libGL.so from /usr/lib, and re-installed the video driver. It worked.

This sort of thing happens when you upgrade x11 / mesa / etc libs and they stomp on your video driver. My general rule of thumb is, if I've updated anything x11 related, just reinstall the driver to be safe.
