Ok I have searched for the answer and I guess I am the only one not smart enough yet in Linux to figure it out but can someone tell me how to first install Americas Army so I can play it.
Do I just go into a console under root and type ./(the file name here)
or what do I have to do?
Please help, I have just moved from windows and I have UT2K4 installed but I miss Medal of Honor and this is the closest game to it for linux I can find.
ok I got AA installed but haven't tried playing it yet. AlsoI did find that Medal of Honor you are talking about and even got it loaded as well. It runs great for me except when I hit the quit button and then it freezes up and I am stuck with no other option that I know of but to hit the reset button on the computer case. Not sure if there is some other way of getting out of the program when it freezes like that (ie - in windows it would be ctrl-alt-del). Any thoughts or suggestions to that would be great thanks.
Thanks I will try that tonight. No I know that the keyboard doesn't freeze becasue I was able to hit ctrl-alt-F1 to get into a full screen console. I am pretty sure X was just froze.

well, if you get to a console, you simply type killall X, and if it doesnt start back up on its own, type:
startx & (the & will enable you to still use that console, sets it as a background process)
both of your suggestions have worked to get out of the game freeze on exit. But I have uninstalled the game due to the fact that I am unable to apply the patch to update it to 1.11 so I can't join a lot of the servers that I normally play on. So I may try WineX and see how it will run in it. Have any of you tried that? If so how did it run?

i havent got the game, but i heard that there used to be a big (1second+) sound latency, but i think it was fixed in the latest versions of winex. good luck!
