What are the difference amongst LFS, Embedded Linux and uCLinux

Hi folks,

LFS is new to me.

What will be the difference in application amongst LFS, Embedded Linux and uCLinux. All of them are aiming at reducing the size of OS. Are their kernel, lib, compilers, etc. the same?

It looks to me being possible starting from LFS to build Embedded/uC Linux. If we install LFS thus created on a device with limited storage space where shall we provide it space to work/store data in the absence of HD/storage_device.

My main interest in learning LFS is to create an OS capable to burn on microcontrollers. However my first target will be creating a LFS for palms. Is there Linux for palms already available, OR just applying Embedded Linux on it?

Kindly advise. TIA

B.R.

LFS isn't about having a small OS - the simple LFS at the end of book one was ~500MB when I did it. That's in contrast to the 50MB DamnSmallLinux and the 64MB Feather Linux.

LFS is about building your own Linux, the way you want it, with the software you want, where you want it. If you just want a small Linux, there's easier ways to get one.
