upgrading gcc
Hi, i am administering a Linux server, based on Linux from scratch (i dont remember the version but it is 2 or 3 years old) i started an upgrade of the whole system... now... i dont have much troubles upgrading "normal" soft but with gcc and glibc i am scared of fucking everything...
Now, my question is... is it safe to install a newer version of gcc over an older one? if not i have to compile it in another directory, but what do i have to do with my old gcc that is installed, asi the LFS book says in /usr? who i make my newer version of gcc my default compiler?
By the way, anyone can recomend a good "package" manager for LFS, in order to document every source compiled and installed in the system? Because it is pretty annoying to uninstall any package...
I hope you can solve my problems!... thanks!
